About Me
I was just about to say that my life in a nutshell was pretty normal. Normal, of course, is an extremely subjective word depending on a person’s perspective of those around them. I’m sure there are facets of my life that people would categorize as ‘normal’ but I don’t believe anyone is truly ‘normal.’ That being said, I’m Mormon white boy who grew up in Utah. My father was a social worker and my mother a teacher. Three brothers and two sisters. Normal? Probably not. I’ve traveled countless miles all over the United States and have visited several places outside the country as well. These travels, associations, and experiences, in conjunction with living in Guatemala for two years as a missionary for the LDS Church, has greatly increased my understanding of the world around me–or at least I feel so. I received my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and my Masters from Missouri State. Currently, I reside in Missouri and work with my wife and her family in the entertainment industry out in the Ozarks. Normal? Far from it.
A person’s beliefs, opinions, and knowledge are usually formulated around that person’s background, upbringing, and education. For that very reason I have given you this brief background so you can fathom where I might be coming from.
My Disclaimer
For those who know me, I tend to be very honest and sometimes blunt when it comes to expressing my opinion. I believe that no one on this earth is right 100 percent of the time—especially myself. However, I do believe learning truth will greatly increase the odds of us basing our beliefs on correct principles. I’ve met people like that—people who have learned so much truth that it emanates from their words, actions, and thoughts. Those are the people who seem to have a glow of light about them. That is how I want to become—hence my thirst for truth and knowledge.
I personally try to seek out information from reliable and proved sources before basing my opinion on anything. Notice I said “try.” Sometimes preconceived notions, raw emotions, or misinformation will lead me to formulate a less than ideal opinion. However, as I learn and understand more about the world about me, those less than ideal ideologies evolve into something more solid. I hope that the views I express are based on the knowledge that I have thus far acquired that is correct. If someone knows something to be the contrary, please let me know.
